Recently, I was called to a small home once a weekend escape, now a permanent residence. The owner really needed window treatments, one; for privacy and the other; for protection from intense sunlight. She was really struggling through her inability to visualize what she needed, what others were telling her from her friends to her daughters to her neighbors, and her own insecurity with all things of color and decoration.
Here I was, in her home, feeling her pain grabbing one more opportunity to educate and appease someone’s fears. Believe it or not, this is the reason I’m a professional designer. It is such a pleasure to take someone by their shaking shoulders, teach them how to address their specific problems and watch as their shoulders gradually fall slowly to normal height – rather than around their ears.
I guess she was appreciative as she told me, ”I couldn’t retire and I couldn’t move” as she would need me for more issues she was facing that she couldn’t face alone. Naturally, I was flattered, but honestly, I was so pleased she could rest knowing someone was really interested in working alongside her in an area she had no natural talent for handling herself.
This is one reason we at Village House have so many wonderful friends for which we are so grateful. We really do care about people, their needs, their living environments and how they work through their remodeling and design needs. Please don’t hesitate to call or email us and ask a question. We’d love nothing more than to lend expertise to your design dilemma and watch as your shoulders gradually lower to normal height!
Thank you to our clients, our friends who have allowed us to educate and assist them in their personal needs.
